Saya terlupa hari Sabtu yang lalu ialah 07.07.07. Seorang kawan dari Sarawak datang bertandang ke rumah meminta saya menjadi 'pemandunya' menghadiri kenduri ke Kuala Kubu Baru dan Melaka. Saya menerimanya dengan rela hati, dan pada masa yang sama dapatlah juga berjalan-jalan ke tempat orang. Bersama dua lagi teman, saya bertemankan peta dan kata hati. Dari Bangi memandu ke Kuala Kubu hampir 2 jam. Rupa-rupanya tempat kenduri tidak jauh dari sempadan Perak (Tg Malim). Kemudian, bergegas pula ke Melaka. Perjalanannya hampir 4 jam dari Kuala Kubu. Tempatnya juga tidak jauh dari sempadan Johor. Kiranya saya masih lagi boleh memandu jarak jauh, walaupun kaki terasa lenguh menekan brek dan memainkan minyak. Maklum sahajalah, kereta manual.
Bila menghadiri kenduri, soalan yang biasa pun keluarlah. Maka ada yang menjawab '20.07.2007'. Kalau rasa tarikhnya terlalu dekat, tunggulah 08.08.08. Kalau tidak, 09.09.09 atau 10.10.10 atau 11.11.11 atau 12.12.12. Kalau tidak ada juga, carilah tarikh sendiri!"
