Sebuah keluarga Melayu menetap di luar negara. Ibu bapa mengajar anak-anak menyapa jiran dengan memanggil nama mereka biarpun yang dewasa. Misalnya Richard, John dan Mary. Ini memang situasi biasa. Kemudian diajarkan juga bahawa Uncle dan Auntie bermakna gelaran pakcik dan makcik yang dipakai untuk saudara mara sahaja.
Apabila kembali ke Malaysia, mereka tinggal di sebuah taman perumahan. Jiran terdiri dari berbilang bangsa. Anak-anak diajar menyapa jiran dengan meletakkan gelaran Uncle dan Auntie sebelum nama. Contohnya Uncle Lim atau Auntie Zai.
Soalan cepu emas yang keluar dari anaknya ialah, “bilakah masanya mereka menjadi saudara mara kita?”
Lalu anak menjadi keliru.

Keluarga yang lain pula. Juga menetap di luar negeri. Sejak kecil anak diajar berbahasa dengan betul. Diajar juga nama buah-buahan tempatan, termasuklah watermelon (buahan tempatankah?)
Mereka juga kembali ke tanah air. Dalam satu majlis keraian, jamuan dihidangkan termasuklah buah-buahan.
Lalu si anak bertanya, “watermelon dalam English apa ya, ibu?”
